Downs and Ups

This week has been a crazy one. One with some downs and ups.
Tuesday morning my dad came home from doing chores and said that my horse Raja had colic. This isn't unusual. She does it quite often. She is ALWAYS better within a few hours. I got ready and headed to work, and on my way looking into the corral and everything looked okay. My dad checked on her from the house a few times during the day and couldn't see her laying down anywhere so he figured everything was okay. I came home from school and looked over in the corral and had the thought "Raja is going to die really soon". I blew it off, and thought to myself, "ya right, she if fine." I got home and was just going to stay home instead of helping with chores because it was blowing pretty hard. Erik called me as soon as they got down to the horses and told me I better hurry down cause Raja was really bad. She has been dealing with the colic all day. She looked horrible. She had literally beat herself trying to get rid of the pain. We tried and tried to get her up to walk and she just didn't have the strength, she couldn't even hold her eyes open. After some extreme coaxing and a blessing from my dad and Erik, she jumped up, and I walked her around for 30 seconds maybe and then she was down again. This happened a few times. Then it seemed like she was starting to be make some improvement. We could get her up and she would stand, I had to literally hold her head up for her but at least she was standing. I was talking to her and telling her that she was my princess, and that she had to stick around for Easton to ride. She looked right in my eyes and started walking. She was trying so hard. Then it all just went down hill. She couldn't stand, she was trying so hard to, then she just died. It was awful... She was honestly more stubborn than a mule. She never did what you wanted, and up to the last minute of her life she was being stubborn. She was trying so hard to fight death. She was my first horse, and the one that taught me how to ride. Because of her I love riding, and I have a great passion for horses. She was one amazing horse, and one that is going to be greatly missed. Easton had T-Ball practice this week. It was so fun to watch! My side honestly hurt from laughing so hard! If you want to have some good entertainment, let me know and I'll tell you when they play:)
Saturday Justin and I went and got my Bountiful Basket early in the morning and then came home and worked in the garden and around the yard. Then we packed lunches and headed up the canyon to have some fun! I love just being able to go in to our backyard for some good entertainment. They boys and fun eating cupcakes, hiking, and climbing rocks.
I know they aren't looking at me, but they were so proud to have their coats around their waist.
I am loving getting fresh fruit every week! I decided to make something with the Mango and found this awesome recipe. Go HERE to see the recipe. Anyways, this is some very yummy, easy salsa!

So sorry to hear about your horse. That had to have been a hard thing.

As always, cute pics. I'll have to try the Bountiful Baskets thing - I LOVE fresh fruit!
